The comment by Ricje(Now deleted) isn't correct.I just got my Glittering Necklace off of Helya in the Maw of Souls.
The items are completely random on which you get, but they do drop off of the end boss in all dungeons. Just queue for three random dungeons and then your items will be obtained.

There's barely any direction for this so, for the quest items, you need to kill the end bosses in- Halls of Valor
- Maw of Souls
- Darkheart Thicket

Just to confirm:Got my first from a specific normal i did.
Got my second from a random hc.
And got my third item from a mythic.
So just do any dungeons and you will get these items :-)

So, you don't have to complete this quest in order to complete your Mage Campaign. I actually forgot all about it until after I had already gotten my 3rd Relic Slot, my title, my 830 robes, and my new followers. And I have the relic appearance that unlocks after completing the mage class hall campaign. If all this quest gives you is gold. I think I'm gonna skip it.Comment by Cannabliiss

This quest line is not necessary to become Archmage and finish the class campaign.The reward for the quest line is the order hall champion Arcane Destroyer.

I actually did several mythic+ runs. Got one item on the first, and nothing on all my latter runs (did about 10 runs, different dungeons too). When I did a heroic and a normal dungeon the items immediately dropped though.Therefore I think you need to get these items from a normal, heroic and mythic dungeon: you can't get all the items on one difficulty.

Does NOT have to be Heroic.Do any 3 Random normal and you will get the 3 items at end boss or during the dungeon. As in 1 item pr run. (I think it is from last boss tho).
Does not seem to overlap so you get more of the same item. I only did 3 instances.
Works on Heroic too, but not necessary.
Reward for this is only Arcane Destroyer so I'm guessing it's not needed or part of any campaign.

Didn't see this anywhere else but if you do Eye of Azshara while you have Eye of Azshara: A Magical Affliction (which you'll accept at the same time as Three Is a Lucky Number), you can do both quests at once. As a matter of fact, I did Three Is a Lucky Number, Eye of Azshara: A Magical Affliction, and a dungeon world quest all at once.Comment by Zanttu

As max level (120) I was trying to work out if I could still do this with BfA dungeons. The answer is you can! I ran 1 BfA dungeon and picked up the first item for this quest so it is possible to do through the Dungeon Finder at max level.Comment by ValkyrieKP
While running through the a mage hall quests at 120, this was as simple as porting out to Dalaran and standing in Violet Hold x3.Comment by Oofles
Tried this in BFA - I know some of the older quests requiring dungeons runs will work. This one however, will not :(Manually going to the dungeons in the Broken Isles still works.

Did this yesterday with a lvl 120 Mage. Soloed three runs in normal mode In Maw of Souls. Each run, the end boss drops the item you need for this quest. 15 min max.
